Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania

April 22 will mark the date of the Pennsylvania primary. This is going to be an important primary as this is a delegate rich state. This is going to be a difficult state for the candidates to win. As this has a small Black population but a Black mayor of Philadelphia, where it give Barack Obama the advantage. But since it is a delegate rich state it gives Clinton the advantage by pattern, as she has been winning all of the delegate rich states. According to USA TODAY Hillary Clinton is backed up by three political powers in that state, surprisingly by the Mayor of Philadelphia. Other supporters include, Gov. Ed Rendell and Rep John Murtha. On the Obama side Rep, Chaka Fattah and Rep. Patrick Murphy. Sen. Bob Casey is currently uncommitted.

This is an important state as this also can take out any other remaining candidates that do not win. So many will be tuning in to see mainly whether this will be another straight win for the Obama Campaign and the end of Clinton’s or another change of fate and a win for Clinton.

Stargate Atlantis Season 4

Season Synopsis: Familiar faces say goodbye and a new leader emerges, as the conflict with the Replicators becomes a galaxy-wide crisis -- and an alliance with an old enemy may be the only way to stop them

Review: As we exit the most popular 4th season of Stargate Atlantis we get some new plot twists and some character changes. The season lasted the average 20 episodes and every time an episode ends viewers seem to go through withdrawal symptoms until next week when the newest episode comes out. In the third season episode First strike the commander of the expedition Dr. Elizabeth Weir is injured while trying to take Atlantis off the current planet. O in the forth season Dr. Weir is captured by the Replicators, Atlantis newest enemy. This calls for a new leader. And who else comes for the call of duty? Gen. Samantha Carter from the parent show Stargate SG-1. In this season the expedition members team up with one of the enemies to stop a replicator strike, learn that top-secret groups on Earth are creating their own Replicators, and learn that one of the team members is pregnant. We see some new building storylines that will we concluded in the newest fifth season. Including the last episode The ‘Fifth Man’ (Part 1 of 2) over all Stargate Atlantis has an average tv.com rating of 9.2 (Superb). And has very positive viewer ratings of “Classic,” by user Angel2408 “A fun show. Unlike its mother show "Stargate Atlantis" really hooked me from the very first episode.” Stargate Atlantis premier’s new episodes at 9:00pm Fridays on the Sci-Fi Channel, and reruns old episodes at 4:00pm weekdays on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Knight Rider

Summary: 24 year-old Stanford University Ph.D. candidate Sarah Graiman is set to follow in her genius father Charles’ footsteps. Her life takes a dramatic turn when men try to abduct her. She receives a mysterious phone call from KITT, a car of her father’s creation, letting her know that her father is in danger. Sarah and KITT set off to recruit her childhood friend Mike Tracer into helping them figure out who has her father and is trying to steal KITT. Mike, having just returned from serving in Iraq is jaded and reluctant to help, but eventually agrees.

Review: Have you seen the 1980’s Knight rider and wondered, “What happens after that?”. I did. Upon hearing the announcement of the new Knight Rider premiering on NBC I quickly went to my friends and to Rental Stores to get the DVD’s of the old Knight Rider and sat down and watched it. I really loved it and was hoping that this one would live up to expectations. Well I am here to say it did. Instead of making it like a Knight Rider part 2. It skipped a few years and had the Son of the original Knight be the new driver. As of March 13, 2008 TV.com showed the viewer Rating of Knight Rider at an 8.7 (Great). And some viewer reviews like “It's shameless, hokey fun!” (mccar29), “This film was awesome. I was so hype for it. I give it 10 out of 10!” (The_Star_Treker). I must say I agree cause I kept an open mind and really didn’t try to connect the new and the old. My Score? 10/10

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles

The synopsis: The series picks up a year after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day with John and Sarah Connor (Thomas Dekker and Lena Headey) hiding from the government. After two years in one place Sarah decides they need a change of scenery and in doing so they expose themselves to FBI Agent James Ellison (Richard T. Jones) and Skynet's army of Terminators including Cameron Phillips (Summer Glau) a reprogrammed Terminator sent to protect John. She informs them that Judgment Day was not stopped and will take place in 2011. John convinces Sarah to stop hiding and fight so Cameron takes them to a time machine the resistance has set up to take them to the year Skynet was created 2007.

The review: this is a very action packed series. While staying true to the original Terminator movies. The fun thing is that we learn more about the terminators so we can go “well why didn’t they do that” in one of the movies. There is great potential in the show and I am very happy to see it come back for a second season.

Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday is The biggest day in Primaries and Caucases. 20+ states Choose their Candidates. One on the republican side and one on the Democartic side. The reason this day is so important is that it can decide which candidates stay and which ones go. This is gong to be and interesting race on the Democratic side considering two special groups are still in the race. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York. And Sen. Barak Obama of Illinois. On the repulican Side is Sen John McCain of Arizona, Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, And Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.

All of the candidates are very certain that they will win no matter how behind they are. One thing we have learned so far this year in politics is that Polls can not be trusted. Especially in the democratic race.

On the democratic side Sen. Clinton has gotten states like California, her home state of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Arizona. Sen. Obama has Georgia, Connecticut, Utah, Minnesota, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri.

Political strategy: Clinton did not get as many states as Obama but Clinton got the delegate rich states. That will help to be chosen as the democratic nominee.

On the republican side Sen. McCain won California, Missouri, Conneticut, his home state of Arizona, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma,New Jersey and Delaware. Gov. Hukabee has received Georgia, Arkansas, Tennesee, Alabama, and West Virginia. Gov. Romney received Utah, Miinesota, Massachusettes, Colorado, Montan , and North Dakota.

All of the candidates are still going to run as they said on their Super Tuesday Speeches. Even Mitt Romney, who is falling behind. Is still saying he is going through to the end.

Here are the delegate numbers per party
Democratic (2025 needed To Win)
Clinton 825
Obama 732

Republican (1191 Need To win)
McCain 619
Romney 269

Politics. We hear that word every day. It is something that drives our every day actions. It affects our country as a whole in what we get to do in our lives and what freedoms we like to express. This is an election year so major decisions are about to be made. How will our country be run? Who will run our country? Where do I stand on different issues? Here in this article we get a look at how some of the Wyandotte High students think about some of the more important issues. I interviewed 6 Wyandotte high school Students on some issues that seemed to make a bigger impact.

Wyona Tobler P
Sydney Carter C
Antoinette Scott NC
Shakela Brantley NC

Wyona Tobler said “some kids. They be real young and be havin babies and they don’t want them”

Sydney Carter “I don’t think that they shouldn’t remain legal cause if you don’t want no babies you shouldn’t do what it takes to have one.

Antoinette Scott and Shakela Bailey both took the position of not clear because they it was Gods creation but the child could be born with certain social defects. Like being a “crack baby”

Hank Sinclair “I think it should because it’s a decision for the people having kids not the governments”

Tabitha Morris said “No Way! Because you are killing humans when you do it. That’s not cool. ”

Wyona Tobler P

Antoinette Scott P
Shakela Brantley C

The issue was pretty well divided since we come back to the Gods creation argument. But then it was raised that there are people out there who do reall bad things in the world and there should be a punishment for such crimes. “It should. For the fact that I believe someone cold hearted enough to take anothers life shouldn’t have the right to live.” Said Hank Sinclair when asked the question

Tabitha Morris P

This is a very good question that impacts many people in Wyandotte High School. When I interviewed Wyona, Sydney, Antoinette, and Shakela there was some discretion as to which race class that was being referred to. After that little clarification all four were able to give a clear answer as to their opinion on this subject. As all of you can see that the issue can go both ways .

Winter Formal at Wyandotte

On Saturday February 9th 2008, Wyandotte high school hosted its Winter formal dance. This year’s theme was Mardi Gras Madness. The colors for the dance were purple, green and gold. The music was good and well selected, and the Cafeteria was well decorated. People were dressed very bright and nice. In the beginning there wasn’t much dancing as many people were waiting to meet up with their friends and show off their formal wear. It seemed that many people decided to go with the Dance colors. But about 30 minutes after, many students started dancing. After about an hour the royal or two court was presented to the dancers. The King and Queen of the Mardi Gras dance were Joshua Wright and Jazmyn McDonald. As the Royal Court was announced many people cheered on and were happy with the winners. All of the members of the Royal Court had their own dance where everyone got to watch or go and get something to eat. Energy was high and people were happy. I didn’t want the dance to end because it was very fun and entertaining. This turned out to be a great dance. I personally liked the Winter Formal but hearing some people in idle conversation they didn’t enjoy it as much as the homecoming. I think that they were both very well planned.

Myspace. Is It Really That Worth It?

Myspace is a popular Social Netowrking site that has more than 200 million profiles total. it is the sixth most popular English language website and the sixth most poular website in any language. It is the third most popular website in the the United States. It is only second in traffic sometimes to the new popular social networking site, Facebook. Myspace has nearly 80% of all social networking traffic. Myspace has been in a tradeoff for the top according to alexa.com, a site where you can compare internet traffic for up to 5 websites. I compared the traffic of Myspace, Facebook, Bebo, and Orkut and saw that Myspace and facebook were always fighting for the top spot every day. Myspace has a US user base of 46%.

So why are we writing about Myspace? Well heres the deal. There have been many security Flaws in the Myspace’s system for people like Sexual Predators to expose. Myspace is always heard about in the news as the “bad site” and “don’t go there” has been said enough to be the newest phrase in a dictionary. I like most people have just put this off and said that they don’t know what they are talking about. Then we got a news report of a Missouri girl that commited suicide in her own home. This has had a huge impact on the members of both the St. Charles, MO community and the members of mysapce.

Megan Meier, a teenage girl who was just starting to fit into her lifestyle as a teenager and feeling comfortable with herself decided to join the bandwagon that almost everyone has, Myspace.

Now there were some very strict rules in her house when her parents finally let her get the Myspace site, like a parent had to always be in the room when she was logging on to the site, only her parents had the password to the site, and they must approve who she added as a friend.

After about a month of having the Myspace site Megan received a friend approval request. Even though she did not know him she convinced her mother to let her add him because he was “very cute”. Unfortunately after asking to meet this “cute boy” which went under the name of Josh Evans started to say that she was a mean person and was mean to her friends. After consistently saying that it wasn’t true Josh broke all contact with her, last saying 'I don't know if I want to be friends with you any longer because I hear you're not nice to your friends'".

With that Megan finally left the computer and went up into her room. During dinner Megan parents noticed that Megan wasn’t there. Going up to see what was wrong they come to find that Megan had hung herself.

After six weeks of the incidents occurrence it was made public that one of Megan’s former friends, her mother, and an employee of where the mother works make up this Myspace character as a means of finding out if Megan was saying anything about her former friend.

Now the question here is Myspace really worth it? It has been in many lawsuits concerning fake identities. Later the accusers being paid off to drop their complaints and settle. Myspace has continued to show its lack in security upgrades and is instead improving the way we receive our mail and getting messages about Myspace events.

So before you create an account or log in ask yourself. Is it really worth all of the trouble?
